PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Health has called on the public to continue being more vigilant against Covid-19 during the upcoming Khmer New Year celebration by implementing the ‘3 Do’s and 3 Don’t’s’, actively monitoring one’s own health, being as hygienic as possible and taking responsibility for one’s own disease prevention.

In the instruction released by the Ministry of Health on Friday, 1 April 2022, the ‘3 Do’s and 3 Don’t’s’ health measures are highlighted along with mask wearing, regularly washing or sanitizing hands, maintaining safety distancing of one and a half meters, and avoiding crowded places, especially places that are closed off with little ventilation.

Additionally, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 on a large-scale, the Ministry of Health encourages people to carry out rapid tests at home if one feels like they might have the virus, and to maintain cleanliness in places of workshop, like pagodas.

"Arrange for a hand sanitizer at the entrance and maintain frequent hand washing. Measure temperature and spray the hand sanitizer alcohol for all Buddhists so that there is no negligence when entering each pagoda gate,” the Ministry wrote.

If anyone is having health problems, or is ill and suspects having caught the virus, the Ministry urges these individuals to please seek medical advice at a public hospital or contact the number provided below.

The Khmer New Year will take place on 14-16 April 2022.
